We’re really in the final stretch, folks, and Going Down is one I’ve meant to check out for eight years now. Outside of the Doom community, Going Down’s creator Cyriak Harris was already pretty well-known by 2014. In fact, if you’ve spent any time on the weirder side of YouTube, you’ve assuredly seen at least one of his bizarre, mesmerizing music videos. “cows & cows & cows” currently has about 68 million views, and that’s not even Cyriak’s most popular video. 50 Shades of Graytall

Limitation projects. Love ’em or hate ’em, there’s no escaping them. You see a lot of the standard bemoaning about the concept — “Why can’t anyone just make a normal WAD anymore?” — but the truth is you could do a lot worse with one of those “normal” WADs than you could with something like 50 Shades of Graytall. The Eye is a WAD I probably wouldn’t have heard of if it wasn’t for this year’s Cacowards. The WAD contains only a single level, when I generally gravitate toward bigger, longer projects. It’s the second creation by mouldy, a relative unknown in the community, and I haven’t really been in the loop at all this year. Instead of slipping under my radar, though, The Eye was brought to my attention just in time to be a charming little Christmas present.
